Review management: a strategy that improves ratings honestly

By Jeremy Andrews, Senior Reputation Expert, TheBestReputation · · 3 min read

Effective review management has four parts: ask every real customer for a review at the right moment, respond to every negative review calmly within 48 hours, report reviews that violate platform policy, and track rating and volume monthly. Never buy, fake, or gate reviews.

Review management: a strategy that improves ratings honestly

The four parts

  1. 1.Request: ask right after a good outcome.
  2. 2.Respond: short, calm, specific, and offline when possible.
  3. 3.Report: flag policy violations with evidence.
  4. 4.Track: rating, volume, and recency monthly.

Fake reviews violate platform rules and FTC regulations. Getting caught can remove every review you have.

Common questions

Can negative reviews be removed?
Only if they violate platform policy, such as fake, off-topic, or conflict-of-interest reviews.
How many reviews does a business need?
Enough recent ones to look active. Recency often matters more than total count.
